What is permanent makeup?

Permanent Makeup (PMU) is a safe and effective cosmetic treatment designed to enhance your natural features. Using pharmaceutical-grade pigments and ultra-fine needles, pigment is carefully implanted into the upper layers of the skin to create soft, natural-looking results. PMU can replicate the appearance of makeup, such as powder-filled brows and eyeliner, or mimic realistic hair strokes. It can also be used to add beautiful colour and definition to the lips.

Before your appointment

Before your treatment, it’s helpful to consider the long-term results you’d like to achieve. Bringing photographs of your usual makeup style, along with examples of healed PMU results you love (and even those you don’t), can provide valuable inspiration during your consultation.

Your artist will guide you through every step of the design process, recommending the most flattering shape, colour, and technique based on your facial features, skin tone, and undertones to ensure a result that feels authentically you.

Perfecting sessions and colour refreshes

For optimal results, all new PMU treatments require a perfecting session approximately 6–12 weeks after your initial appointment. This allows us to refine the healed result and ensure the pigment has settled beautifully.

Once your treatment is fully healed, maintenance appointments - often referred to as colour boosts - are recommended to keep your PMU looking fresh and defined. The timing varies from person to person, but we generally recommend waiting until the treated area has faded by at least 50%. As a guide:

Brows: approximately 18–36 months

Lips and eyeliner: approximately 2–4 years

A long term commitment

All PMU and microblading treatments should be considered permanent cosmetic procedures. While pigment naturally softens and fades over time, there is no guarantee that it will disappear completely. Regular colour boosts help maintain the desired appearance, but some residual pigment may remain indefinitely.

For this reason, it’s important to be completely confident in your decision before proceeding with treatment.

Suitability for treatment

As PMU is a form of cosmetic tattooing, clients must be at least 18 years of age to undergo treatment. Unfortunately, treatment is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and certain medications or medical conditions may also affect eligibility.

If you’re unsure whether your chosen treatment is right for you, we’d be happy to discuss your individual circumstances and answer any questions before booking.

Health and Medication

Please inform us as soon as possible of any medical conditions, allergies, recent procedures, or medications you are currently taking. This allows us to ensure your treatment is both safe and suitable.
